Intensive Support

If you have still not found work after three months, BEST will use more resources to help you find a job. Intensive Support provides one-to-one assistance to help you get and keep a job.

You will keep getting Intensive Support until you find a job. The following services are part of our Intensive Support program:

Intensive Support Job Search Training

This is an intensive job search training program which will assist you to develop job seeking skills and gain confidence to find employment.

BEST Employment has highly skilled and experienced trainers who will bring out the BEST in you.

We will assist you to:

  • Prepare a resume
  • Write job application letters
  • Canvass employers
  • Prepare for job interviews
  • Improve your communication skills and self confidence
  • Remain in employment

You will have access to:

  • Skilled and experienced staff
  • Use of a telephone for employer related calls
  • Job search kiosk
  • Computer, internet, mailing, photocopying, faxing and newspaper job advertisements

Job Search Training usually runs over 15 days; however, it can be arranged differently if you have part-time work, study commitments or have a medical condition requiring you to renegotiate the days you attend.

Indigenous and mature age job seekers (aged 50+ years) can volunteer for Job Search Training on the first day you start receiving your eligible allowance from Centrelink.

Come in and speak to a BEST Customer Service staff member if you meet the criteria to volunteer for Job Search Training otherwise most job seekers on an approved Centrelink allowance will automatically be referred to the program if they have been unemployed for 3 months or more.

Customised Assistance

If you are still unemployed after 12 months you may also be eligible for more intensive services through Intensive Support Customised Assistance.  This program provides tailored one-on-one assistance to eligible job seekers.

BEST will give you more services suited to your individual needs and you may receive special training to prepare you for work, counselling and work experience.

Additional services you may be eligible for include, but are not limited to:

  • Career guidance
  • Assistance with costs for training and education
  • Work related licencing
  • Work related clothing
  • Transport costs for job interviews
  • Work experience and work trials

Customised Assistance is a service tailored to meet your needs bearing in mind your health, work related skills, career choices and personal and family responsibilities. Our employment consultants will work closely with you to assist in achieving your employment goals.

Assistance after you start work

At BEST Employment we believe that most work related issues can be resolved, especially if they are detected early. For this reason we have developed a Post Placement Support package to meet your needs and ensure that you have a smooth transition into the workforce.

An employment consultant will maintain regular contact with you and will provide on-going assistance in the initial stages of your employment to ensure that you achieve success with your employment.
