BEST Options

BEST Options is an innovative range of bespoke community programs that are offered as a fee for service.  Our programs have been designed to help those in the community to be the best they can be and are specifically targeted to:

  • people who are Individualised Support Package eligible
  • those attending secondary school or at risk of leaving prematurely
  • secondary schools
  • businesses
  • youth and community services clients
  • the general community
  • people with a disability or a specific learning need

Introducing the BEST Options Work Experience Program

The BEST Options Work Experience program was designed to assist people with a disability into meaningful work experiences that will enhance their opportunity to gain sustainable employment.  This program helps to break down barriers to participation by brokering an arrangement that supports both work experience participant and employer to ensure a successful, mutually beneficial placement.
 
The program operates on a 12 week roster from placement and induction to the end through-put of the participant into a range of outcomes. During the program the participant gains knowledge and skills within an industry, hands-on experience, linkages to accredited training and one day short courses to improve skills and industry knowledge to create a pathway into the industry of their choice.
 
The participant also has a real opportunity to become an active member of the community and move towards their career aspirations. Outcomes can be many and varied, from increased self esteem and motivation for the participant through to casual, part time or full time employment or apprenticeship.
 
The BEST Options Work Experience program is constantly expanding and has currently developed work experience placements and ongoing relationships with employers across a range of industry sectors. 
 
Programs such as this help support people to actively participate in work and in-turn, build stronger communities.

Programs for Individuals

Individualised Support - Case Management Service

BEST Options provides a flexible 1:1 case management service to anyone on an Individualised Support Package, self funded or students within the secondary school system.  This program provide people with the necessary supports to assist them to develop personal goals and a pathway to employment & education, training and community links. BEST Options can tailor a case management support package to individuals based on their needs and goals for the future.

Programs for Groups

Future Ambitions

Future Ambitions is a pre-vocational fee for service program for young people aged between 15–21  years. The program is offered two days per week over a school semester and is suitable for students that are still attending secondary school, may be in their last year of study, are planning to leave school in the near future or are at risk of leaving school prematurely. The program is aimed at providing participants with the skills to develop their future pathway in the areas of employment, education and training.

BAMM - Budget and Money Management

BAMM is an interactive, fun and practical monetary skills program aimed at providing basic budget and money management skills to assist in daily living. The program is tailored for people who have had little or no experience in budgeting, a poor concept of money including how to handle money and count and check for change. BAMM aims to provide monetary skills that will empower participants to become independent, in control and more skilled in the use of money.

BAMM is an ACFE funded program, so discounts may apply.

Thinking about Thinking - Self Esteem & Confidence Program

'Thinking about Thinking' is an ideal program for people with low self esteem or confidence, lack of direction and who may have had negative experiences in life. The course takes participants through a series of topics that look at how their minds work, what influences their thoughts and how to deal with these influences so that they are empowered to make positive choices in their lives.

Thinking about Thinking is an ACFE funded program, so discounts may apply.

Start Your Engines

Start Your Engines is a fun, interactive program designed to assist people who have just gained their Probationary driver's licence or are considering purchasing a car for the first time.  The program covers topics including purchasing a vehicle, basic car care and maintenance, budgetting for a vehicle and safety.

Start your Engines is an ACFE funded program, so discounts may apply.

Social Club

BEST Options Social Club provides social, recreational and fun opportunities for participants in a supported group environment.  Activities are community based and focused around making friends, social and community inclusion, social and community access and having fun.

Mentoring - Supporting People Program

Our mentoring program is aimed at providing participants with the skills and knowledge to become a mentor to support others to be the best they can be. Training can be adapted to provide your staff will the skills to mentor people with or without a disability in the workplace, training program or community environment or training for people with a disability to support and mentor others with a disability.

Disability Awareness Training Packages

BEST Options may have the solution for you with their professional disability awareness programs that are available to employers, workplaces, community services, schools and general community members. The skilled consultants at BEST Options can tailor a professional development package to meet your training needs, including disability awareness, dyslexia awareness and mentor training.
